How to Prepare for Your First Xeomin Treatment

Xeomin helps to smooth unwanted lines and wrinkles to give you a more youthful appearance. Similar to Botox, Xeomin is made of a purified toxin that eases the tension in the muscles which can contribute to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.

At Aspire Med Spa, we use Xeomin to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes and lines between the eyebrows and across the forehead. After administering Xeomin, you’ll likely notice results within a week and a wrinkle-free appearance for 3 to 6 months.

Before your first Xeomin treatment, you’ll probably have lots of questions. That’s where our team of professionals at Aspire Med Spa comes in. We can answer all of your questions to ensure you’re as comfortable as possible with the treatment.

But before your consultation, let’s take a look at what you need to do to prepare for your first Xeomin treatment.

Xeomin vs Botox

Xeomin usually acts in a similar manner to Botox. This is because it contains the same neurotoxin. They both temporarily prevent the targeted muscles from tensing up which is what ultimately leads to wrinkles.

Because they are so similar, Xeomin is seen as a suitable alternative to Botox. And while both Botox and Xeomin are safe to use, Botox contains certain proteins that Xeomin does not. This can make Xeomin more effective, as the proteins in Botox can eventually lead to your body not responding well to the treatment.

Preparing For Xeomin Treatment

Before you start your Xeomin treatment, there are some steps you should take to ensure you get the best possible outcome.

Avoid Certain Products

You should avoid taking anti-inflammatories, aspirin, ginkgo biloba, vitamin E, and fish oil supplements a week before your first appointment. The compounds in these medications can increase bleeding and bruising from the injection. For pain relief, you can take Tylenol.

You’ll also want to avoid any herbal supplements and topical skin care products like retinol, retinoids, Retin-A, and glycolic acid.

Lastly, you will want to stay away from alcohol 24 hours before treatment to avoid bruising.

Learn About What to Expect

Xeomin is administered using an injection, meaning you’ll feel a pinch during the treatment. If discomfort is your main concern, talk with our team of professionals after scheduling an appointment. A topical numbing cream can be applied before the Xeomin injection to help with any possible discomfort.

After The Appointment

You won’t need to do much after your appointment as there is no downtime. You can return to your regular routine immediately.

However, you will want to avoid strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours.. You also won’t want to put too much pressure on the affected area for the first few days.
