What is Botox for Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)?

It’s a common problem no one wants to talk about: Excessive Sweating, also known by the clinical term, Hyperhidrosis. If you find that prescription strength anti-perspirants and deodorants provide little relief, and your sweating is causing you significant embarrassment, don’t suffer in silence any longer! Regain your confidence and treat your excessive sweat with Botox.

When injected into the area of concern, Botox works by blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the overactive sweat glands, preventing and reducing sweat production in the treated area.

If You Do Any of the Following to Cope with Excessive Sweating, Book Your Consultation Today:

  • Change your clothes frequently
  • Avoid certain fabrics or clothing styles
  • Wear clinical strength antiperspirants or deodorants
  • Put absorbent materials under clothing
  • Avoid shaking hands, because of sweaty palms

How is a Botox for Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis) Performed?

Treatment with Botox for Excessive Sweating begins with your provider applying a starch-iodine test to the area of concern. This test is an important first step, as it shows the location of hyperactive sweat glands that require treatment. The treatment area is then cleansed, and using a very fine needle, a series of 10 to 15 small injections are made in a grid pattern to the affected area. You should notice a significant reduction of sweat within 2-3 days of treatment, with results typically lasting around 8 months.* At Aspire Med Spa in Lexington Hyperperhidrosis treatment is done using a very fine needle, your injector will first zero in on the area being treated. Beyond the slight pinch of the needle, most of our Lexington Hyperhidrosis treatment patients find the procedure to be virtually painless.

*Individual results may vary.

What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated with Botox for Excessive Sweating?

Botox is FDA-approved to combat excessive sweating of the underarms, but can also be used to manage the symptoms of excessive sweating of the hands, and feet (Palmar and Plantar Hyperhidrosis).
