Xeomin®, Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau®
Neurotoxins are injectable medicines that work by blocking nerve impulses to facial muscles and causing them to relax—smoothing wrinkles formed by frowning, squinting, and other facial expressions. These injectables can also be used to sharpen the jawline, correct a gummy smile, or provide lift and shape to the eyebrows.
Neurotoxin treatments are quick and tolerable—using a very fine needle to target the muscles that are causing the wrinkles you would like to correct. Beyond the slight pinch of the needle, most patients find these treatments virtually painless.
The FDA has approved four different neurotoxins for in use of reducing wrinkles: Xeomin, Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau. While each one consists of botulinum toxin Type A to create the appearance of smoother skin, not all of them are created equally.
Xeomin® - The clean choice for relaxing wrinkles
Xeomin is the only currently FDA-approved neurotoxin that uses advanced XTRACT Technology, a unique precision manufacturing process that isolates the therapeutic part of the protein—removing the unnecessary components (derived from egg or lactose) to uniquely purify the medicine. Xeomin became FDA-approved in 2011, allowing its patented manufacturing process to be more refined and modern in comparison to other neurotoxins.
This makes Xeomin the ‘Vegan Botox’—a fantastic choice for patients with certain lifestyle choices, such as veganism. In addition, the refined, clean formulation is an excellent formulation for those who are allergy-prone, reducing the chances of unwanted reactions.
Patients can also look forward to quicker effects, as results from Xeomin are typically seen within three to four days and last 3 to 4 months.

Botox® Cosmetic
Botox is the longest-standing FDA-approved treatment to improve the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, gaining approval back in 1989. Botox results can be seen in seven to ten days and last around 3 to 4 months.
Dysport®
Dysport was first approved to treat frown lines in April 2009, and, like Botox, also has therapeutic uses to calm muscle spasticity. Many users see improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows within two to three days, with results lasting up to five months.
Jeuveau®
Newly approved by the FDA in 2019, Jeuveau temporarily smooths moderate to severe lines between the brows. It is a quick treatment prepared with Hi-Pure™ Technology, which purifies proteins. This technology allows the product to be potentially safer with an increased ability to act within the placed area and a lower likelihood of entering the blood stream. Results appear after three to four days and last up to five months.
